‘Fight those who do not believe in Allah… among the People of the Scripture [Jews, Christians] until they give the jizyah [tax] willingly while they are humbled.’”
…and this is the total opposite of Christianity and the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
That commandment in the koran/quran/qur’an/whatever-an’ is also why muslims actually practicing islam as written will never “coexist.”
Further, there is NO SUCH THING as “radical islam.” islam is islam. No such thing as a muslim becoming radicalized; rather, they are simply practicing islam exactly as written. Painting orthodox muslims as being “radicalized” is just a cowardly avoidance of facing the reality of islam: Satan’s ‘religion’ on Earth.
A democracy run by voters, who are short term greedy and long term ignorant won't prosper over the long run.We either need better voters or limited government.Since most people worship government as their savior,It's likely that voters will chose more of what is the problem, government.
There are slight, nuanced differences between imperial governance, political control, and geographical influence. If one elects to use the latter two, the first really becomes unnecessary. Technology has both necessitated and enabled the arrangement. President Trump's approach is very much in the Teddy Roosevelt mold/mindset writ large and fine. He has also borrowed the idea of Maxwell's Silver Hammer from the Beatles with spectacular efficiency and immediate consequences. Finally, we have credibility and accountability in our foreign policy, and everyone can see and understand his situation, choices, risks ,and liabilities. As Dennis Prager often says, "I prefer clarity to agreement." Best always. PM
The US constitution's ambiguous words will be its destruction. The US congress can not represent their constituants while taking eons to make a decision for people who have to live in a nano second world. And sometimes the prole needs outside help. Have a great sunday.
No doubt the document needs to be brought into modern times. The political ability to accomplish that is non-existent. Notice that to get ANYTHING done AT All, President Trump has practically to work around the other two "branches" of "government." This is less of a commentary on President Trump/Executive Branch than it is on the utter, ossified constipation of the other two. Loss of consensus in a consensus-based system is death to that system. Best always. PM P.S. And who says the US Congress wants or intends to represent their constituents? They show themselves consistently to exist solely to represent themselves. PM
Japan appears to be, and is, at peace today. It hasn‘t always been so. If one goes back a mere 89 years, it was a different nation and a different people. The evidence is the Rape of Nanking in 1937. Japan was a nation gone mad. They slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Chinese for no other reason than their victims were Chinese. Military leaders had competitions to see who could behead the most Chinese and newspapers in Tokyo carried daily headlines with the tally of who was in the lead. My Japanese mother-in-law, just a young girl in rural Japan at the time, trained with other children to use firearms in combat. Ironically, at about the same time, Japan was in the midst of nearly a 50 year period of occupying/rulingTaiwan and were quite benevolent. In Taiwan, they helped set up educational, transportation, and other systems which served to help vault Taiwan into prosperity. To this day, most Taiwanese look back to the days of Japanese rule in a fairly positive light. The same people can be manipulated and influenced to act in both evil and benevolent manners. It is true with all people from all nations. Our challenge as people is to choose the right path.
Joel, Seems the New U.S. policy of spreading Dmocracy in the World is more Wars. We will kill your civilians and leaders, put in our Dictator of choice, steal your resources for our Corporate Interests, and call it a day. Pres.Milei who represents " the People" doesn't have an agenda of War. Which Society represents true Democracy ?
My only lament is you included a hateful opinion that the USA, a nation of immigrants, is financially suffering due to ostensibly giving succor to the undocumented immigrants among us.
Whoever crafted that screed is oblivious of the sanctuary carve-out the undocumented have if they work in slaughter houses or in the agricultural sector writ large.
But missing too is our current president’s need to buttress his popularity and those of his Congressional champions in the forthcoming midterm elections.
Bombing Iran foremost on behalf of Israel’s current government and killing the leader of Shiite Muslims worldwide will have consequences yet to be determined.
My guess is the impeachment (but not the conviction) of our current president will be one of them.
Japan doesn't pay the bribes that flow through those in power (colloquially called our leaders) to prevent the flowing of these bribes. And the US finds a way to stick its nose into every international dispute known to man (and woman), even those in Parts Unknown that most United States-ians cant even find on a map.
Then you have the munitions manufacturers. How many people know that the tools of their trade get counted TWICE in our GNP numbers? Yes, I know; most "economists" have moved on from GNP to GDP, but bear with me for one more sentence. The bombs get counted when they are produced, and they get counted in the balance-of-trade effect when they are dropped in foreign lands, as an export. Maybe that's a reason GNP was abandoned; it was fraudulent.
“As do the Muslims. From the Qur’an 9:29:

Joel Thanks for bringing us the contrast , perspective and serenity ( & horror )of this Moment in our world
The historical rhythms continue!

My country chose to bankrupt itself on wasteful and stupid things.
Beautiful and thank you.
I enjoy reading Joel's insights. If only we had people like that to collaborate with each other.

I accept the challenge, Joel.
