Many years ago, I was in Andorra on May 1, bound for the pass that led into France. It was raining as we set off and I was driving. Before I knew it, I was in a whiteout snowstorm, in a car without snow tires or chains. How I survived I don't know, but if you have any such plans just remember that it's still winter in the Pyrenees....
Just a comment on the Basques. I have been living in France for decades. I chose the Basque country for our first family vacation because I have always been fascinated by the oldest ethnic group in Western Europe and their language that is not like any other. In addition, I had interacted with the Basque diaspora in Utah and Nevada in my early years. One day we attended a basque choral group presentation in the church of a little village. Wonderful songs sung in Basque. They definitely have a great musical culture. Afterwards, the priest of the village presented some historical facts of their ancestors, of which was the often unknown role played by the Basques in defeating Charlemagne's army at Roncevalles. I had been taught previously that the Saracens had defeated Roland. This came as a surprise to me. The priest never mentioned why the Basques attacked (I suppose they were just defending the homeland). Whatever the case, the story of the defeat was subsequently used by historians to rewrite history and villainize the Saracens who were a political (and religious) rival to the south.
Andorra! How exotic. Last I knew, it was one of the five smallest countries on the planet. Can't remember the other four, but I did get gold star from my teacher for my research.
And the snippet from your next novel is intriguing. It showcases your mastery of history. It also makes me wonder if the ancient betrayal you cite is a precursor to what's to come.
Have only explored the Barcelona area, would like to see more of Spain. It also happens to be my daughter’s birthday and one infomace individual, Heir Hitler.

Glad you made it out ok!
RE: Making a Pass
Charlemagne implied to be French??
My understanding is he was from Auchen, a Rheinlander, father Pepin the small, grandfather King Cedric, Low Country people, of Friesian ancestry.

Fascinating. We attended a fine Easter service this morning with a wonderful chorus. Thank you for your note!
I will also offer a Happy Birthday wish to your dear daughter!

I definitely enjoyed reading the passage from Cyclone Charlie and am looking forward to the completed (bestselling) novel.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, serves as Co-Prince of Andorra!
