When Mamdani is elected, I will watch with keen interest the steps he takes to transform NYC into a socialist mecca.

It's bad enough that its government has for years stipulated what rents landlords can charge (the consequence of which are lots of shabby apartment buildings).

But operating grocery stores is far trickier. If it's run by bureaucrats, then it's guaranteed to be a money loser.

A worse consequence: since privately owned enterprises cannot compete with government owned and operated ventures, then Mandani-stores will drive out of business the city's tax-generating ones

When that occurs, taxes of all kinds will increase resulting in evermore outbound migration

The only good to come from Mamdani's history-proven, guaranteed to fail government-run business model will be the books written by tomorrow's scholars explaining anew that governments do not create wealth; they consume it

What is Democratic Socialism, you ask? Well, like Fabian Socialism, or spreading pepper on the soil as you're fleeing the scene of the crime so the bloodhounds can't follow you, it's a way of obfuscating. Socialism says government cares. That's an important part of the campaign strategy for Big D Democrats in the USA. We C A R E about you. Until you suggest you'd like to change the style of government, in which case we care less about you and more about retaining power.

And Democratic Socialism says voters believe us when we tell you we care, and you vote for us. Just don't try to vote us out. Then you'll see who we really care about.
