I like the quote, the future is uncertain and I expect to get there.
I awoke thinking about my attitude about the future. It always held a fascination, and I had dreams, desires, and they precipitated action and actuality. Everything begins with a thought; sometimes, the thought just miraculously appears and takes on a force. I guess that is destiny. We all have a destiny and thoughts, but do we actualize, achieve our destiny, or let some crucial thoughts die? Are we left with too many regrets?
I saw the movie, “Walk in the Woods.” I just read the book, great. Now I am reading “AWOL ON THE Appalachian Trail” I wand to read “The Snow Leopard” and “The last American Man.”
I realized. Visiting my son, in NC, and trying to hike Pilot Mountain that I would never hike a mountain again, two operations and a broken leg have ruined my right leg. No Golden Pass to 64 Vail Association Ski Areas for me.
Another dream hits the dust.
Why do I read these books? I dream of doing it but more importantly it motivates me to do the things I can do.
I walk the hall, row my Concept 2 and hope to get back on my bike. It is not much but I am 84 and I must prepare for 94. If I diminish at the present rate, 94 will take all I have.
I am preparing for the future; I want to be ready.
I believe in God, follow Christ; even though my body is dying, my Spirit soars into eternity.
It’s wonderful Xavier that you still have the drive to climb mountains, and continue your education at the same time🙏 I’ve crawled the Pilot Mountain Trail a couple of times and it’s not easy for a twenty year old…but that’s the power we get from faith, to always push beyond our limits. It’s the gift of Christ that just keeps on giving…even after our climb on mountain earth is over 🙏
Can you send Mariana up here for a while? We need help! From the San Francisco Standard, about the California's decision to discontinue considering SAT scores in admissions: "I teach calculus at Berkeley. Some of my students can’t do middle school math."
What a treat to encounter a lady that full of life and light. She’s so occupied with being better that her age simply doesn’t enter the equation — two plus two still equals four. Thanks for sharing this.
Yes Joel, some people are just better. Unlike the teachers in America who taught a generation of thugs that 2+2=5 or 6 or whatever you want it to…because some people are just stupid 🤔
Nice "Note" Joel! For some reason, it made me think of my classroom days - from elementary school through high school - and why "education" here in today's America is a problem for many kids. In some ways, the "good old days" were just better. My college days at Notre Dame were a bit of a struggle but managed to survive. One thing I did learn - not all teachers are good teachers.
