Joel Bowman with today’s Note From the End of the World: Buenos Aires, Argentina…
There’s a hidden Argentina, unseen… undiscovered… untapped…
A few weeks ago (unknowingly in search of a metaphor for a future Sunday Note), your editor journeyed west to San Martin de los Andes, nestled in the foothills of the great Andes Mountains.
With visions of glacial lakes (wifey), El Viejo Oso chocolates (daughter) and succulent Patagonian lamb a la cruz (father) dancing in our heads, our party of three looked forward to a pre-Christmas digital detox. No screens. No anti-social media. No distractions.
Checking in to our modest cabin in the town itself, dear wifey inquired about the heated pools (as advertised).
“I’m terribly sorry,” came the reply, “but we don’t have pools at this location…”
We were preparing a polite yet firm rejoinder when the bright young clerk saved us the embarrassment…
“…but we do have ample swimming facilities at our other location. It’s a half hour drive from here, up in the hills. The resort is empty at the moment as the restaurant is still under construction, but you are welcome to take one of the cabins there if you please. And for no extra charge. It’s…” a here a discretionary pause “… much nicer than this place.”
Thirty-one minutes later, our little family of three was wandering the grounds of a lush and perfectly deserted resort, apparently the only inhabitants of an undiscovered paradise. From out of luck, to suddenly very in luck, we thought of what other hidden gems this country has to offer. Then we remembered our upcoming Investing in the End of the World virtual summit...
If you haven’t already reserved your spot for our inaugural event, with investing legends Rick Rule, Byron King and Eric Fry, you might wish to do so today. Mark your calendar for January 8, from 2-4pm Eastern Time and register here:

And now for your Notes from the End of the Week…
Final Notes…
We’ll be keeping in contact over the Christmas-New Year’s break, dear reader, but our “office” will be closed a few days here and there, as the silly season demands.
For now, we’re off to our favorite Greek restaurant in Buenos Aires to plan 2025 over some souvlaki, moussaka and a healthy tipple of ouzo.
Whatever you’re up to this weekend, we hope you’re enjoying time with family, friends and loved ones.
Stay tuned for more Notes From the End of the World…
Cheers,
Joel Bowman
