I liked more the expression of empathy you revealed for the elderly man with his pair of pups than of Borges' musings
However, resonating with me was his remark that he could recall "the memory of a woman who left him thirty years ago now whom he can call to mind without bitterness"
I've deeply loved several women in my lifetime. Only in the past decade or two could I recall those times with sweet poignancy
Still, I can't help wonder how my life would have fared had one of them become my life companion
I am gently and unequivocally suffocating in his words.
