Some preventative measures could have been embraced for the last several decades which would mitigate or reduce some of the fire danger risk. Please see my comments.

Living in Los Angeles reminds me of forestry preventative measures and best management practices (BMP), that are sound but go unheeded.
Historically the public and the Forest Service, and many forestry departments did not want to "disrupt the natural beauty" of the woodland forest and park like surrounding areas, with machine based selective logging, thinning, and the removal of beautiful fallen trees on the ground (that could be harvested and recycled). So, unfortunately, massive amounts of fuel for fires (dry wood) is waiting to burn 🔥...
Coupled with drought, dry weather, high winds, and a source of ignition, here we are again.
Many friends have evacuated, many were asked and then wind shifted away, everyone is packed and ready to run away from fire and tragedy and loss.

Not that I pay much attention to your “competition” up here in the northern hemisphere, but the story of Argentina’s rebirth seems well hidden by the “legacies”. Carry on the great writing, I need the encouragement in the face of current & future events!
meanwhile, here in the states,we deal with wild fires and thousands of properties destroyed due to political ignorance .
Too sad…
Yes Ralph, here on the East coast we just call political ignorance by it’s true name, democrats 🤔
Hello Steve, do you read Doug Casey's my take?
No Kevin, but have read his articles on and off over the years. Mostly agree with him on many issues other than religion. But not a follower.
Not political ignorance but Mother Nature doing her thing.....no difference than earthquakes,
tornados, hurricanes etc. No one in the Political area can quell these events....terrible as they
are! We have been warned that weather related events will continue to worsen so we must
heed the warnings and prepare as best we can. Best wishes to all.
True, we may not be able to quell these events, but we can be prepared for them or be ready to initiate measures to mitigate damage.
