I so loved the story of Ulysses. When I was younger I thought it so much BS that Ulysses did not forsake all to be with Calypso and stay faithful to his wife, after many years of marriage I begin to see his wisdom.
Every time I go back to the text I discover some new, enduring lesson. Sometimes I think it's the story itself that carries different meanings for different times in one's life; other times I think it is the man grown older who reads into it with new and (possibly) deeper understanding. I guess it could be both... like Heraclitus' river... the waters change, as does the man. Thanks for your comment, btw. I hope your dear wife saw it!
