Love knowing that I am fostering ancestral cosmosquabbles. Frankly, I've always felt earth is the center of the universe.

Yes, yes, I know Aristotle and I are technically wrong, but just as I can make my beloved wife the center of my universe, so too can I declare our planet is also the center of my universe.

Both my opinions of course; each makes me feel good. I also believe in extraterrestrial beings. They are among us. I've worked for some and others, I'm certain, are in our governments

Love your work, Mr. Roberts. As we all know, dear wives are the centers of all our multiverses. Cheers!

The other night I was writing in my journal about all the fearful crises in the world. Ukraine, Gaza, the dollar value....and I thought, WAIT. Here I am in a comfortable house, with enough to eat and a grocery near that is usually full of anything a person could want. At present we have friends, money saved, good medical care and life is actually quite good. The only thing to be afraid of is that it could all be taken away - and that is a fear the media wants to instill in us. Thank you for your cleverly written notes from the end of the world. I've completely tuned out of the nightly news.

Glad to hear you’re post-MSM, Judy. It can be so depressing. We’ve been driving a fair amount here in Australia and I hear the news on the radio. It’s shocking how graphic the gov warnings are, with all the fear mongering and dramatic hypotheticals. Meanwhile, I’m looking out at the passing countryside thinking how discordant the messaging seems with the actual reality. Then another song comes on… Best to you.

It is always my pleasure. Being something of a recluse, I am rather astonished that so many people like what I say.

Today I was locked out of my X, nee Twitter, account after watching a post on X where RFK, Jr. talks about dismantling regulatory capture. The supposed reason for locking me out was this post: "Will someone please get this guy a chainsaw." I tried to drop a screen grab of the response from X here, but apparently I can't do that. The team reviewing the auto suspension concluded that I had, in fact, violated the terms of X by suggesting "violent speech. You may not threaten, incite, glorify, or express a desire for harm or violence.." But nowhere did I suggest that said chainsaw should be used against a person or persons or even against firewood. I did protest that I was in jest referring to Sr. Milei, but to no avail so far. So don't go to X and talk about chainsaws in any context, please.

Wow, and here X was supposed to be free speech central. Guess we’ll have to convene here on Substack instead 😎

Social media nannies live in tight bubbles. I doubt they could place Argentina on a map, yet alone know who is leading it. Also, we have completely lost our sense of humor or jest in anything it seems anymore - everything is literal. I think of all the comedians, who made me laugh so hard I had tears forming, whose work would never make it today. I hope the nanny squad at X sees reason for you, but I will not hold my breathe for it happening.

My guess is any way possible that is more likely to be considered by the receiver.

I talk to my kids frankly and a few friends but with a lot of consideration. I see a gradual change occuring despite the onslaught of propaganda from the mainstream media. The lefties have done so incredibly badly in every area of the narrative that everyone in society is questioning their stupidity. Wokism is pretty much done for. Covid is not in a full fight for punishment of vaccine attack. BLM is obviously violent. CRT is not even discussed except through racism which losing ground. Climate change is receiving skepticism from scientists with integrity and the financial community. Now the desperate attempt to start WWIII is getting questioned and I think Biden will lose to whom I'm not quite sure.

I suppose. Yes, I thought X was the be-all and end-all of stalwart free speech. Go figure. Took all of 30 seconds to block my post. So I responded to the "if you think we made a mistake" response saying that it was in jest and referenced Sr. Milei. Took about two minutes for them to say nope, you violated our guidelines. Inconvenient as there are some people I like follow on X. I'll give them a day or so and if it stands like this I'll retract the post and re-post it using referring to a gas powered tool frequently used by farmers, arborists and lumberjacks. ;-)

By the way, you're one of the few writers I have to read with a dictionary close at hand. Keeps me learning.

If you’re reading these notes on an iPhone or iPad, you can hold your finger/thumb on a word and you’ll get a pop-up menu with a “Look Up” option that will give you the definition (I use it all the time on Joel’s notes).

Joel, My wife and I visited the lovely small town of Captain's Flat, outside of Canberra, during the early days of Covid, before the lockdowns. People were great and so hospitable at the Captain's Flat Hotel with the longest bar in the Southern Hemisphere. Worth checking out if you are in the area.
