Not so long ago the challenge was to have a big enough funnel to collect information; now we need a very effective filter to keep out the crap that is the majority of ‘news’. That said we are fortunate to have escape routes for good journalism such as yours Joel and maybe, just maybe, the likes of Substack are facilitating a renaissance in independent thinking. Let’s hope so.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing the MSMedia get identified and degraded for its pathetic, miserable and incompetent performance over this last decade. It's wonderful to see the various MSM sources go bankrupt.
The nice thing about their incompetence, dishonesty and misrepresentation is that it makes it obvious where the government should put its attention to solve the debt problems. Opposite the mainstream narratives! Every one of them! And punish their financial supporters!
But an imaginary 'Department of Government Efficiency' sounds like an impossibility in the US. It also sounds like a conflict of interest for Musk to head that since all of his businesses are dependent on government contracts and subsidies.
Just like the DOJ or FBI or any other government agency investigating itself.
Well Musk at least does something with the contracts and subsidies!
I don't see a conflict in making the rest of Gov accountable. Some mention of cutting $6 trillion from the budget, you know getting rid of all those Gov departments, gender studies, education, dei etc, etc.
It would be great if he or anyone could ever get rid of all of that government waste, but like all of Trump's promises, we will need to see if they actually happen.
It's hard to see how anyone who feeds off the government teat can be expected to reign that in. That is his conflict of interest.
Their promise list:
End the war in the Ukraine.
Close the borders and deport the illegal criminals.
Eliminate those useless government waste agencies.
They will be held accountable to keep those promises. What are the odds of that?
Stayed up late last night to see the hopeful results of the US election. Now we can hope that some very great people like JD Vance, Ron Paul and Elon Musk can begin using their motosierras and begin to get America back in the correct direction. Do you think the leftist media will realize their mistakes? What a relief not to have to listen to Kamala cackle for the next 4 years!
Joel, you must put this on X. Sorry, but the world must read this. The outcome of this election will be influenced primarily by this same MSM as most proles do not spend much time considering the future as dealing with the present is challenging enough, so they are apt to hear and store the drolling of the channels of news most readily available to them. They have been listening to the description of the "Evil Trump" since 2016 on most of the media they use. The Cabal's puppet presstitutes are doing what they are paid to do, as well as the educators of our children. This is a planned overtaking of the country. So the question remains: where would we be if the 4th estate had done real journalism since 2004 if we kept the federal government away from our children's education? If Trump prevails, it will be a gargantuan David and Goliath story the MSM cannot hide from. But they will, from moment one, continue to try to take down him and this country.
Parents who send their children to the public fool system should be arrested for child abuse. The scary thing is that no one makes them do it; they actually volunteer to send their children to public school. How crazy is that?
The one comment that I can attribute the whole program of hair-on-fire interpretations of common statements was when Mittens Romney said in one of his debates with Barack 0bama, "I have hundreds of women in binders." The comment first drew a snicker from his opponent, then was taken to high silliness the following day by 0bama advisor David Axelrod, who mocked Mittens by implying that he had women tied up and bound. And almost the whole planet knows that Donald Trump is not always the most articulate speaker when in a political campaign, so everything he says is taken as a hair-on-fire comment by his opponents and the presstitutes (but I repeat myself).
Unfortunately, your criticism of Ms. Harris has some valid points.. I always loved Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism, as she (Rand),was always against socialism, stating there shouldn't be any free lunch in our society. But, if I may say so, Mr. Trump is about the worst person I have ever seen, and I don't only refer to politics. How can a liar, cheater, crook, bull shitter, self-centered narcissist, sexual deviate actually have almost half the U.S. population willing to put him in the position of the most powerful person in the world. The U.S. must be the laughing stock of the entire world. Harris might not be perfect, but, man alive, she is a far better person, (can I use the word better?) than Trump.
Thank you so much for your analysis. Now turn around, close the door, and shut up.
No, I'm kidding. Let me just react quickly and without doing any fact-checking.
First, and most importantly, bullshitter is one word down here south of our border. It might be two words chez toi, but down here, it is one word. So shape up!
Second, you can call Trump many names. You're not the first. In fact, most journalists in the legacy media have been hurling invective since 2016. Ever wonder why? Ever wonder why they would not update their kneejerk hatred for an individual? Ever think it had nothing to do with the man or all the pecadillos you listed? Perhaps because they don't want you to look at them for similar improprieties. ("What, do you mean with a cloth or something?").
I mean, it's been several years since Jeffrey Epstein committed Arkancide, but the FBI, who were able to round up, charge, and convict hundreds of old folks who walked through the capitol, cannot give the public a list of names who flew to Sex Island. Or solve the mystery of the bombs outside DNC and RNC headquarters in D.C. Right, Trump's a bad guy; Harris and all the candidates below her are virtuous folk who have never run a business or hired a worker.
"How can a liar, cheater, crook, bull shitter, self-centered narcissist, sexual deviate actually have almost half the U.S. population willing to put him in the position of the most powerful person in the world."
That sounds like KH you are describing too. In fact, that sounds like almost every politician!
So, since they are both the same, a write in for Ron Paul would be best.
How, you ask? Because Camela is even worse. And as of 10:30 on Tuesday evening, most Americans, dumb as we are, see Camela for what she is. I don't like either candidate, but at least Trump is business friendly. If that awful woman is elected, the stock market would tank the next day. And then it would do a retracement (i.e., go back up, recovering maybe half of what it initially lost), as the military industrial complex realizes she would be very good for business.
Joel, am happy to hear Ron Paul is on board as an advisor. It would be great if Trump listens to his advisors this time around. What is the saying "Less is more" regarding Trump's talking and texting. He could lead this country in a positive direction, he just needs to shut-up and lead.
In the ensuing fight, Jephthah’s men captured the fords of the Jordan leading back to Ephraim, but many Ephraimites still tried to cross over, hoping their Gileadite brothers would not be able to distinguish friend from foe. However, the men of Gilead knew the people of the west could not pronounce the sh sound, as they had not mixed with foreigners as their brothers from the east had. So the Gileadite soldiers asked each man who tried to cross over the fords to say, “Shibboleth.” Every man who was from Ephraim would respond, “Sibboleth,” therein revealing his identity. With the help of this clever tactic, Jephthah’s men caught forty-two thousand men and put them to death that day (Judges 12:2–6).
Can you provide a reference to the following quote you attribute to Kamala Harris: “They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and that has to stop.”
Perplexity seems unable to find it and I’d like to use in debates with my friends.
Joel, As usual thanks for the essay and the facts. The major networks in this country I would assume won't admit their bias crime against the people, but the people spoke regardless. The light of President Milei and his people shined on us .Thanks.
honestly everybody, it’s like you’ve been walking in the desert for 4 years and not taken a bath, or even worse, not had a beer.
Well, i just stepped out of the shower and had a few. the sun is shining, it’s quiet, and for the first time in a while i’ve noticed something new, a different peace of sorts. A new chance for prosperity, even the grumpy old woman smiling at starbucks to everyone walking in. Why, I NEVER
woulda thought. There’s something to this everyone. Mr Milei is onto something.

We’re all in.
Thank God for our country back! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸America won yesterday, and so did Argentina🙏💕
That remains to be seen. In any case, it's just a reprieve.

I've said the same thing. Her cackle is easily the worst part of hearing her speak.

Feel free to share far and wide!
Parents who send their children to the public fool system should be arrested for child abuse. The scary thing is that no one makes them do it; they actually volunteer to send their children to public school. How crazy is that?
They are busy working 4 jobs trying to pay the national debt with inflation!
Yes, I know. Even poor people can, and do, homeschool their kids. It's all about priorities.
