In fly-over land, millions of Americans are now nodding their heads: "This is what we expected, and this is why I voted for Trump." It's particularly egregious because the crimes junior was convicted of are only the tip of the iceberg; the pardon extends to "all acts between 2014 and 2014" which shields junior from culpability for his and "the big man"'s connivance in scoring payoffs from their Ukranian and other friends - that's their Big Crime. Somehow - it's really strange (ha!) that this aspect of the case has all but disappeared from notice in the legacy media.

Yes, making the pardon cover back to 2014 is the give away.

As other writers have said, that itself is an admission of guilt for all that he did since 2014.

Thanks Joel for this nod to the disappointing but unsurprising. If it were only Biden and family that were corrupt it is possible the nation could easily overcome it... the problem is that forward, back, left, right, up or down DC is rife with corruption. Trump seems to have the constitution to take it on and he has certainly surrounded himself with a strong team of talented individuals who appear to have integrity intact and eyes wide open... but the rats are going to fight back in defense of what has become their greatest grift.... and I might add regardless of political party. God help us before the whole thing goes boom.

In 1987, Joe Biden‘s egregious lies about his academic history were exposed and subsequently that caused him to drop out in disgrace from running for the presidency. The video of his lying has been readily available ever since. It may have stymied his political aspirations in 1987, but it didn’t keep him from being elected president in 2019. Everyone knew he was a liar, but apparently we didn‘t care anymore. So now, Joe Biden’s true nature comes to light once again. And we‘re somehow shocked? Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

If I understand the real egregious point, it wasn’t a pardon for specific crimes. It was a blanket for a fair length of time - known and unknown crimes.

Joel, I'm not certain there is any distinction to be made among sordid pardons. You seem bothered by both the Bidens' relationship and also that Joe lied (or simply changed his mind). Why should that matter to you any more than Clinton's pardon of the fugitive criminal Marc Rich, apparently as part of a payoff to Hillary? Or more than Trump's pardon of his son-in-law's father, who was guilty of a particularly unsavory witness tampering scheme involving a prostitute and blackmail. (Said pardonee is now proposed as our ambassador to France. Criminality rewarded!) The abuse of the pardon power is disgusting but it's pretty much business as usual. I don't see why the Bidens' case means we've crossed some line into a realm of the unfathomably heinous....

That's a good point about criminality being rewarded, since rewarding criminality is much worse than pardoning it. To me, that is crossing a line into heinous.

Ahh…the smell of the smoldering ashes of mainstream media.

Joel, Am just amazed that intelligent people (Democrats) support a man (Biden) who has shown his true colors of being everything they condemm Donald Trump for being.

One must hope, that in the near future, when consideration is being given to the building of The Joseph Biden Presidential Library, due diligence occurs.

My recommendation after appropriate scanning & storage of litany of lies, deceit and audio are all on microchips, a temporary incinerator should suffice and the truck load of toxic ash, goes to a swamp in Delaware.

Benefits will all fit with Trump agenda …

Hunter to Joe, if I go to prison... Dr. Jill will have to bake two files into a pie.

Why nothing about all the creeps Trump pardoned in his first term? And he'll probably pardon those simpletons who raided the Capitol on Jan 6, thinking they could overturn the election results.

Most of those "simpletons" didn't know what they were doing, were not guilty of sedition, and certainly do not deserve years in prison for 'disorderly conduct.' There is also ample evidence they were goaded by 'agent provocateurs.' Most will be released, as they should be. I don't really like Trump, but it's also obvious that he has been unfairly persecuted.

Yes Joel, you know the motto of the socialist, “the bigger the lie, the more the ignorant believe” as you witnessed in Argentina and we have been witnessing in America.

Your article " Fathers and Sons " is a ferocious confrontation with the level to which USA politics have sunk ,or as the French would say " Nous sommes tombes si bas ". In Latin america we are totally inoculated against practically anything that any of our Presidents or their court members say, promise, comment or asure . Not even the opposite is true. Unfortunately the same is happening in the USA.

Thanks Joel. I do imagine some things are harder to write than others. Point given, point taken.

Joel, completely enjoy and appreciate your "Notes". However, when you are considering macro issues you are much more astute than when you consider the micro. A President lied not unusual and is too micro for you, if I may say so. Your macro level observations make for great reading. Keep up the good work!
