"For one thing, politics is not dignified, just as socialism is not social and communism is not communal."

Right on. A lesson that needs to be repeated far and wide. And often. Thank you.

BTW, your page tells me I am not a subscriber. I thought I subscribed soon after you offered subscriptions. How do I check this?

All one can do is share this article and hope someone in USA remembers after the fires go out and the smoke clears.

It is possible with use of the world's reserve currency and a big stick, the can on the road to ruin can be kicked down the road for quite sometime

According to this brilliant article by my favorite analyst Lyn Alden, it can be kicked a long way haha.

Central banks buying gold is an indication the can has reached a point of reckoning. Trading fiat or fiat denominated paper for real assets in any market is a sign of protectionism. The banksters are running slowly to the exit, hoping few notice.

Joel, nicely written. But I am not sure if I understand your numbers. 1,696, xxx million is more than trillions!!! I don’t even know what comes after trillions??

But I really enjoyed why you were in Argentina. All this time I thought you went there because your wife was from there. Nice to know, thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Tlasso! The numbers given were in Argentine pesos… which basically require an advanced mathematics degree to compute at this point. We’ll be back at the other end of the world soon enough. ‘Nutha few stops first. Btw, I think quadrillions come next… something for our profligate politicos to aim for, on our behalf, of course. Cheers!

All political landscapes are crime scenes. Which is to say all political actor-people are criminals.

Gladiator-dudes & dudettes? Front of the house Panem et circensis of the always hooped & hoopla’d ouroboros sphincter … circling the squarely complicit quarry-audiences.

Let us entertain you. “The Queen” owntrols 1/6 of the globe I hear; $20 trillion coffer-coffin, that. How many check-cashing employee-minions does that require? :

“HARD LUCK” knuckle tattoos … well, knuckle bones are roll-connected to dice games called “craps” & billions of crapscallions play to lose every single day. Always have, always will is the way to bet those you-bechamel sauce-brained shooters.

Walking out of a concluded matinee one time I saw disheveled Siskel awaken from his nap & stumble out of the theater into The Big Town … who knows what his review write-up was like for that forgotten flick? :

Joel, Great essay, I don't think it could be simpler or better said regarding Argentina's successfull political expierement . When will the people of the outside world demand this expierement to come home to their lives of Free minds, Free Markets and Free People. The U.S. of A. thinks they have started down the road, it's but a politician's power dance, not the real "Dance with Wolves". Thanks

Somalia is just a surrogate for any other country in which the government ceases to function. It's not just selfishness - you can be selfish but honest. It's selfishness combined with a lack of morals and integrity.

Walter E Williams said it best: If man puts a gun to your back and takes $100 from you, it's theft and (if caught), would be prosecuted as such. But if that same person votes for a candidate who wins and that candidate (et al) enacts a new law that taxes you $100 and gives it to that would be perpetrator, it's legal! (Albeit, IMHO, still theft).

Interesting reference on LOVE. On of the few cases where English is LESS granular than another language.

Why is there still inflation in Argentina? And why so high? If inflation is controllable by the levers at the hand of the Argentine President, then why not dial it to -2% and restore, slowly under control, the value of the currency? At the same time put a lie to the claim that inflation up to 2% is a desirable thing.

I think it probably takes time to wind down all the canceled programs, implement severance packages, etc. It would be cruel to just can people without some time to look for a new job, etc.

Are you an anarchist?

I'm sorry, but as much as I hate government, I am forced to admit that SOME government is necessary, particularly for national defense and civilian law. Somalia has no functioning government. They have complete anarchy, sectarian violence, terrible criminality, fractionalism and, in general, complete chaos.

Thinking free men could hire people to protect them reminds me of Animal Farm! Those folks eventually turn into a quasi .... GOVERNMENT!

That may say more about Somalia than anything else. But yes, "some" government is necessary. But it will always seek to expand itself; that's what selfish people do. Selfishness is the real problem, it's unsustainable. See Discourse On Agape at https://discourseonagape.org/booklets/. There is a better way, and you won't be as alone as you think.

Yes Joel, The West has already ended its future, as western nations have destroyed their identities, currencies, industrial dominance, their education and medical systems, their cultures, borders and their grip on reality. They have fallen into the abyss of socialism, ignorance and stupidity. Milei may have the opportunity to make Argentina the America of the South, and become the main influence of the southern hemisphere. I believe the more the West disintegrates, the stronger Argentina will become 💪 You my friend have chosen a very good place to nest and raise your family. You will prosper as the northern hemisphere crashes and burns 🥵
