Early indications are promising... cautious optimism engaged. I look forward to your Milei memes. They abound, thanks to his many and dedicated followers. Will be happy to restack 👍
As you know America is in much the same place as Argentina... not quite as far along but rapidly approaching.
You indicated (..."that Milei is now leveraging Kirchner’s Law – 26.122 – to derogate power from the state...)"... and this begs a question... will Milei find a way to nullify Kirchner's Law so that a change in Presidency won't result in this power being put back in place?
The Executive has gained excessive power in the US as well through both the "chevron deference" and the ridiculous inaction of Congress. In just the last few days it appears that Biden has declared war on Yemen... yet to my knowledge Congress still must vote to send the US to war.
When power concentrates, when wealth concentrates, this is when Democracy dies. I applaud Milei from attacking these concentrations directly but would encourage him to make systemic changes that eliminates the possibility of it occurring again.
We have exactly the same issue in the US... power must be derogated from the State and large Corporations and we must erect proper barriers to assure it does not happen again... let us hope that the Supreme Court strikes down the "chevron deference" in conjunction with the case before it but in addition we need any bureaucracies and laws that undermine our Constitution (e.g. intelligence services, FISA 702 among others) to be struck from existence.
Our Constitutional Republic must be secured by our Constitution, Bill of Rights and foundational principals... political parties will only abuse that which is ours, all of ours.
I will continue to watch with great interest. Thanks Joel.
It is quite funny watching the opposition complain that Milei is acting in an undemocratic and fascist way, by using powers granted to him in the constitution and expanded by their hero Christina, to repeal unconstitutional laws that were put in place undemocratically by the fascist dictators they normally complain about.
Exactly. They’ve also complained that he has “threatened to go to a referendum” (i.e. the voters) on certain issues with which they disagree. This, from a mob whose favorite plaything is rule of the majority…but only when the majority agrees with them. And they have the audacity to cry “dictator!” If only the poor Argentine people were paid in irony, they’d be the richest country tomorrow.
Joel, I think you have to have the chainsaw fired up and trimming in order for the pen to work.As it has been said here before President Milei is a shining light of Freedom to the rest of the world.
My impression is this is an act of brilliance. I'm surprised I didn't think he could act this quickly and with such a great idea. We'll see how Congress reacts.
How's Milie's security? Is there a "gofundme"? The world needs him to last long enough for his common sense (at least to me) repeals succeed. How could they not? Unless he's taken out....
He just flew coach to the WEF (out of his own pocket) in order to lecture those gathered about how they are the problem, NOT the solution. Yes…he’s gonna need a serious security team. More in tomorrow’s Note…
It’s exciting to see the first blush of his approach and hopefully the momentum continues to build over the next few years. The proof of concept may not be visible for multiple years, but let’s all hope that however long it takes, the evidence of success becomes irrefutable. We mustn’t forget that even with the empirical evidence of east and west Berlin, and north and South Korea, as well as Singapore in its own right, that we still have whole groups of people that believe socialism and bigger government is the path forward!
Thank you Joel! Fantastic reporting from the End of the World. Appreciate the first hand knowledge you share. We wouldn't hear it anywhere else. Milei has already passed from the interest of the US news. Let's make the same list for the US side and which rules we would remove by Executive Order. All the best to you and your family Joel. Fantastic!
Coincidentally (I’m downsizing and rummaging through old stuff that I’ve saved) I found a Washington Post article from May 1977 that lists the federal agencies, advisory committees, commissions, interagency committees, boards and international organizations. It already numbered about a thousand whilst announcing Carter’s new Department of Energy. Since then I recall a new Department of Education, Homeland Security and who knows how many new “Czars” like the infamous and expensive John Kerry. Does anyone know how deep the bureaucracy is these days?
Joel, I hope like Indian Lake commented, hopefully Milei's actions get repeated here in the U.S. of A. We shouldn't hold our breath waiting. We have two ole' men playing checkers, and they can't remember which color they represent, suported by the majority of the population who are color blind, along with the media, it won't be a peacefull revolution like Argentina. So be it.
One can only hope that some of these actions might head north to USA, with the clown show of our two political parties.
As it happens, there are Ends of the World all over the world!
Great post. Milei is the real deal! Will be posting about Argentina and Milei memes Sunday

No, kind sir... thank you!

Great observation!
One day Argentina might be invaded by American's seeking the freedom they lost when USA took a hard Left turn.
I'm looking for a place to retire. Argentina made the list 11/19/23 :-). Brian Chambers

Yes, he has many enemies... we'll wait and see how it proceeds. Stay tuned...
Flying coach may be the best security foil! Next is waiting on the Pink House street corner for a bus. This guy is smart.
Haha, classic 😂

More to come, señor. Thanks for your kind support!

Miles gives me hope.
What a breath of fresh air, echoes of Cincinnatus.
Excellent observation. Fodder for a future Note. Cheers!
My pleasure!
