Headline from an op-ed piece in today's New York Times: "The First Amendment Is Out of Control." You see, free speech as enshrined in our Constitution is optional, depending upon what is "information" and "misinformation" as determined by the NYT and their minions.

I, for one, pray it is never under control.

"The fact that people are voting for these outsiders is not a threat to democracy...it is, rather, democracy in action." Beautifully said, thanks for the wonderful article.

Whether or not one supports the second amendment, hereโ€™s a very old civil rights organization (yes, the NRA) taking a stab at a declaration of independence from the current regime.

Iโ€™d bet that those who value the First Amendment could come up with an even longer list of grievances.

Happy Fourth!

I.

Like your comment.. That line of who counts the votes however, Is something that can be dealt with. The federal government has become way too large. A federalist government means that the states have thier own government structers. Control of the federal government is up to the State Governments. The states have abdicated their responsibility much as the house of representatives have. Many

Federal bureaucracies have to be eliminated. We send our money to DC and have to plead how they spend it on our behalf. Sounds like king George to me. We need to change things with our votes beginning at the local and state level. Perhaps I'm wrong... Maybe we could dress up and throw crates of tea into the harbor. Simpiler acts have changed the world

Now that you are quoting, who said, "What matters is not who votes, but who counts the votes"?

As I see it, here in America, we have maybe 10 so progressive cities that can control the outcome of federal elections. My guess is they know how to count votes. So, does it matter who runs? Therefore don't forget to vote!!

I canโ€™t say Iโ€™m in the loop, but this was a very fun read!

The publicโ€™s shift in perspective on representation has been nothing but refreshing as of late. Seeing the masses finally -at least to some extent- fed up with the extreme polarization of the media in their attempts to keep supporters boxed in brings a smile to my face.

The water in the French โ€˜Assemblรฉe Nationaleโ€™ cauldron is getting a great deal hotter.

Frogs disfigured with only left legs, have to come to terms with reality, they better jump โ€˜tout suiteโ€™ or become a delicacy for gloating right wing diners

PS The English version of โ€˜Tout Suiteโ€™ is Right Now!

How appropriate indeed.

Joel, I think there is just a little bit of pride left in the 'ole" U.S.of A with its July 4th celebrations of honoring our Veterans and a constitution of a once great country, that portrayed a light of Freedom to the rest of the world. The socialist liberal left can't take that pride away from the hardworking middle class and senior citizens,by calling us names. thanks Joel

Did you know that according to Wikipedia, bloviation is a style of empty, pompous, political speech that originated in Ohio and was used by US President Warren G Harding? He described it as โ€œthe art of speaking for as long as the occasion warrants and saying nothing.โ€. Thank you Mr.Bowman, for another vocabulary lesson.
