As Stalin once stated, " It doesn't matter who votes, it matters who counts the votes".

George Carlin was so prescient on so many issues. Not every issue, but many.

And he put it so well, delivery wise. Even things I disagreed with, I found myself laughing along with. Remember when we could disagree AND laugh along? Seems weirdly foreign now…

Maybe Trump will bring Millie in for some lessons to his economic advisors. Or send Kudlow to Argentina as an exchange student.

Bravo Joel! A few years back I coined an expression (well actually I just reiterated an old one and it became popular again) that runs parallel to your thoughts today.

"It's all lies, all the time." Simple, straightforward and factual..

G'day mate!

Joel,

“To hear their justifications for such panoptic governmental invigilation, one would think there was never a lawn-mowing job that wasn’t a front for an international arms deal... a lemonade stand that wasn’t a meth lab in masquerade... a give-a-penny, take-a-penny jar that didn’t warrant a midnight raid from Interpol.”

You do make me laugh and smile…despite the ugly truths that fall like lead-laced confetti around all of us each day.

Keep Going and Keep the Faith.👌💪🤙

Has anyone noticed the Financial Times is front and center of the mainstream news? Unless one wants to be propagandized one needn't read their nonsense. Thanks Joel,

Two months ago, while in Turkey 28,000 Lira equalled $1000. While at the airport we were informed our Visa was not correct. No one could explain why it was incorrect. The government official suggested a correction payment of $65 would move us through the airport more efficiently. Surprising, the government office would not accept Turkish Lira, only cash in USD or Euros would do the trick. Before exiting Turkey into Europe exchanging our remain Lira into Euros, I witness a local merchant collecting many bricks of Lira at the exchange. I can imagine robbing a bank would require filling a few pick up trucks to make the endeavor worthwhile.

When I started reading these letters, you, or maybe Bill, wrote an essay about how newspapers began in history, and my takeaway from that is that the people's news has always been what the elites want us to see. At 77, my final understanding is that we proles either become an elite and do what we can to foster 1984 with its class of minions, or we simply remain proles. There are no free people in this world. I hope and trust Sr Milei succeeds in his quest to free the Argentine proles, but in the timeless vat of time, the elites will overcome and slave them again. Some of us, however, will never give up, as that is what a few of us proles are made for. Don't forget to vote!

"If democracy depended upon voters and not vote-counters, the 'global elites' might have some cause for concern here."

That explains why democracy never worked in the former Soviet Union, as one of Joseph Stalin's most famous quotes was, "It's not who votes; it's who COUNTS the votes."

You are suggesting there might be a cure. No empire escapes its ultimate disintegration. I used to joke with my British friends that an Indian company buying Jaguar proved the Sun had finally set on the British Empire. Their wry smile showed irritation along with an irrefutable acknowledgment. The sad thing about America’s demise is that a society based on high ideals decays too.

This is the message I sent to the NYT this morning. LISTEN PLEASE. The Russian cyber attacks have hacked into a long list of U.S. networks - INCLUDING any and all ELECTION INTERFERENCE methodologies, propaganda (Russian TV seen on hotel/motel chain TV) AND POLLS. In Russian Roulette by Isikoff and Corn, they say the following: "For years, U.S. officials had been grappling with Russian cyberintrusions. As far back as 1996, Ruyssian hackers penetrated Defense Department networks and stole documents . . .In the 200s, the Chinese were perceived as the biggest cyber threat in the United States - they were stealing data from government data bases and American companies practically at will . . . but the Chinese were noisy about it. They left readily identifiable fingerprints. Ledgett (former head of the National Security Agency) had long since become convinced the Russians were the more sophisticated and stealthy adversary . . . "the Chinese would break into your house, smash the window, and steal your cutlery." he later explained. "The Russians would pick your lock, reset your alarm, and steal the last five checks in your checkbook so you wouldn't even know they were there." The Russians KNOW that the poll numbers sway voters. The NYT is among the leading newspapers in the world, so please grasp the message you are delivering to unassuming Americans. Elizabeth Graham http://www.democrazy2020.org
