Joel, love your take on Argentina's current situation. A question: why not say "Pres. Milei" instead of "Sr. Milei"? Also, my research over many years has convinced me the "political sausage" is primarily made from "snouts and sphincters". GH
"Snouts and sphincters" lol. As for Sr. vs Pres. Milei, no particular reason, GH. Sometimes I refer to him by his local moniker, El Capo (even though I don't think of him as a "boss,") or El Loco or Sr. Motosierra. Just mixin' it up to keep it interesting. Thanks for reading!
oops that is not Jerry. I am Judy. Jerry is my husband who subscribes to Bonner. I’m still unhappy that I have to ascend the stairs to see Bonner’s full articles on hubby’s computer. I subscribed to your writing myself.
Your writing just tickles me. I’m a retired elementary and college teacher, Ed.D. I taught a lot of writing so really appreciate your finesse with clever phrasing! I’ve also just started a little journal of words I have to look up; flaneur, peripatetic, senecure, coven, vulpine are some that come to mind. I also am fairly fluent in Spanish so love to see some Spanish translations that allow me to check my Spanish knowledge. I’m a 70 year old fan of yours! Where were you educated? You seem to have received of obtained on your own quite a wonderful knowledge of great writers, history and sociology.
Wow, what a thoroughly thoughtful comment! Thank you! As a novelist who believes the right word is worth a thousand pictures, I must say your compliments carry a great weight indeed. Glad you're enjoying the writing. Cheers!
Thank you for this history. I had read the history of Argentina in Wikipedia. It was so chaotic that I gave up. Looking frwd to hearing you sort out the subsequent history.
Was pretty amazed to see Milei's WEF speech, published in its entirety, in the National Post newspaper, here in Canada, of all places. Pretty gutsy, they are probably going to lose their government funding.
Hello Joel: I recently joined your happy band of intellectual malcontents and as such myself I feel right at home. I have been forwarding many of your articles to my fellow travelers here in the Great White North, (also known locally as the People's Republic of Trudeaustan), exhorting them to sign up themselves. I read several web publications every day and find yours rapidly becoming my favourite for your thoughtful musings and stylish use of language. Onward and upward! As to the political sausage question, snouts and sphincters assuredly, and for the past few years far too many left wings and horsefeathers.

I love hearing the back story on this! Please continue!
You keep reading ‘em, I’ll keep writing ‘em. Cheers!
This is all great stuff! What I don't know about South American history is basically -- well, all of it.....
Thanks for the kind words. And stay tuned…
....Rosas in 1952??🤔
Oops! 1852. Thanks for the keen eye. Corrected accordingly.

Tanks for letting me fell less dumb after reading you. Take good care. HLB

Joel, I really enjoyed the malinformation! You and Bill are a couple of my favorite Terrorists :-)
My interest in South American history is renewed. Particularly as I observe that today’s news of Argentina is tomorrow’s history.
Love the history lesson to heighten the appreciation of the Milei assault on Davos!
Love this please continue!
Joel, check that 1952 date should be 1852, otherwise, you the man.
Good eye. Consider it corrected. Cheers!

Very interesting article. Have you, by chance, a recommendation for some history of Argentina. Thank you. And, by the way, I like that painting.
