Rats nest it is! Lest you Argentines think Americans believe their media, I can speak for myself. I can only take peeks at the spectacle. I've read many books about communist Russia and China and it looks to me like the political rats in America have begun to completely control the media just as in those communist countries. It has gone so far as to make people afraid to speak out. I don't know who answers surveys or how "they" get their polling numbers. I don't answer surveys and don't know any friends who say they do. We are all careful what we say at the Mahjongg table, lest we offend a friend! Good for President Javier Milei! How did he escape the gene pool?

I'm only posting this here

as it's not individually relevant. I've seen that live name before. The Trump is a rat with a red tie and small hands.

I'm sure that wasn't the point.....

Why do we continue to feed the rats?

I ask myself that everyday! 😬

Breathtaking arrogance is the only plausible explanation for such a pay rise. In previous times such contempt for the people would have prompted polishing of pitchforks and dusting of piano wire.

It was Obama who said that he's the only person to stand between the pitchforks and the congress. Last night , michelle said that she was taught by her parents to fearthose who take more than they need. Interesting point from a couple who grew up " impoverished." Barack never had a paying job other than government. They are worth upwards a 100 million dollars..... 29 acres estate in the hamptons et al. "Rules for the not for me."... a quote/paraphrase from michelle on the earlier campaign stage about her husbans.... " Barack won't let you continue to live the life.You're a customrd too." He is still running the show. Police are acting stupidly and commies are awesome...

Seems to me your senate is ripe for the people to rise once again to force out the rats who've put themselves above your country's needs to enact much needed reforms. Is there a way your president could clean out the rats in the nest, say by dissolving the current senate and calling for an election, without causing a civil war?

As for the US, we're already in the process of reaching the stage where a civil war seems almost inevitable between those on the left and those on the right, mainly because of our currently failing two party political system. Our shame is in not having, what I like to call, a truly independent party willing to just say no to them both. This of course requires what has always been called the fence sitters declaring independence from and non-affiliation with our current political parties.

So 32% of Americans trust the mass media a great deal/fair amount. This just confirms my sense that a third of the people will believe anything and everything they are told. They seem to lack the ability to use their brains and realistically contrast what they are fed with the reality that surrounds them. I wonder if this phenomenon holds true globally or only in countries with a “free” press.

Expand full comment

Yes Kenny, those 32% are called Democrats 😵‍💫 which is close to the amount of mentally challenged that voted for Biden, and will vote for the most hated women in America. Unfortunately, here in our third world shithole, we continue to let the dead and brain dead vote for democrats, which makes up 95% of their cult….I know, cult is such a harsh term, but if you can stomach more than 5 minutes of their “convention” you will fully understand 🤔

I listened to a few minutes of the republican convention on the radio. Unfortunately, it wasn't much better.

Again Altshule, as most liberals, you mistaken disgust for hate. I hate no one, but the leftist in our world are truly disgusting. Just a shame you haven’t learned anything in your life and continue on the demented crusade you left back in California 🤔

My experience with my liberal friends constantly harping about how socialism "works" in Sweden et al, is frustrating, but it is hard to break it all down before their eyes glaze over and they lose interest in the answer. Granted I could be better with my presentation, but the last 100 years in Argentina is a good, real time example of cause and effect. If anyone knows a budding film maker looking for something to make an impact, the telling of the story of a magnificent culture rapidly falling from First to Worst in the years after socialism was applied, could bring context to those that get lost in economic charts. Joel would be a great narrator!

I do wish there was a cigar smoking Pied Piper who had the ability to whistle up a speech from

a hymn and deliver it like poetry.

For better and at times worse, WC achieved most all the country on side, when the weak hand wringer MPs said he could never do it.

Ah! the power, thunder and impact of cigars, scotch, a sway of the hat, now being plagiarised successfully in 2024, by ‘Chainsaw Javier’.

BTW - Javier in Spanish = ‘new house’.

Milei is mightily working to match his first name at a cutting pace !

More strength to his power-sawing arm.

The scandinavians will tell you they are NOT socialist, which is true. They are capitalist countries with a high tax rate, which is what pays for their social welfare system. That is a distinction that will be lost on most people.

My forecast:

--Harris wins by, among other divisive nonsense, vilifying wealth-makers; Harris proposes an array of government handouts the cost of which will exceed Biden's and Trump's;

--among them is more student loan forgiveness; the work ethic diminishes; inflation erupts;

--the Fed attempts halfheartedly to suppress it with high, but never high enough interest rates; the dollar's purchasing power continues its century long devaluation; investors worldwide reduce their exposure to the US;

--stagflation occurs. Everybody unhappy. Harris is re-nominated but defeated. The US continues its decent into gargantuan debt that can never be paid.

--The ties that bind us, already frayed, begin to unravel

I'm interested in where you get the idea that student loan forgiveness = inflation or a diminished work ethic. The young people who are forking over $1000s in loan payments will purchase homes, raise families, donate to charities with the money. It will stay in the economy.

The term, "wealthy politician," should be held in I'll repute worldwide. And even though not every businessman is worth his wealth, I can't think of any politician that's worth what they have pilfered from the Treasury. Even if they did it legally.

Does Argentina's constitution allow for the president to veto the bill to increase the salary of the senators?

Expand full comment

Seems like it is time for Milei to cut the government in half once again or maybe by the amount of increase to balance the pay. It also seems obvious the rats hate their constituents.

A re-read of 1984, written in 1949, is in order. Everyone in Argentina except the Senators and their families is outraged by the raise they gave themselves. But let's face it, no one is surprised. I have read through all the comments, and other than the usual prattle about how disgusting La Casta is, only one offered a solution: civil war. It will never come to that. La Casta has taken over the education system, so our children and their children have been radicalized already. ( Let the state teach your children, and you get what you get. ) MSM is already in LaCasta's pocket. La Casta in the US has had an additional eight years to perfect their takeover. ( Remember their shock at the hillery loss. They will never let that happen again!) La Casta, here in the US, we will call it the cabal, has control of money creation and will never give it up. The uber-rich who back the cabal's access to money creation have no interest in blocking that access either, plus the cabal will come down on them heavily through lawfare, the JD, IRS, HLS, NSA, you name it. Oh, and the Baby Boomers are too fat and lazy to do anything but talk. The us has had 250 years to get to where it is, and we Boomers have lived through 1/3rd of it. And did nothing. I am ashamed of myself. Don't forget to vote!!

Joel, Its interesting the outside overview of what our country (U.S.of A) has become. Sad but true. A friend said her Father would say the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans is,the Democrats always leave atleast crumbs for us to nibble on.Now the rats keep the crumbs to.
