My guess? Sleeping off a hangover earned the previous evening. Tiny place though. Some neat B&Bs and out-of-towners passing through. Old school southern hospitality, too. Worth a stop for sure.
Interesting choice of towns to visit. We don't all talk like that in Texas but I'm proud to be a Texan. I've never been to Jefferson - what drew your ventures there?
Hi Judy, I love driving around your amazing state, meeting some of the colorful characters. I feel like I could spend years visiting these small towns and only scratch the surface. As for Jefferson, we had no particular agenda, other than spending the night somewhere along the way. Lovely place with some fantastic little bed & breakfast options. We were warmly welcomed. Cheers!
Yep, you could spend a long time traveling around our Texas territory and spend years studying the history of this piece of land. Thank you so much for your notes from around the world and especially your little walking videos! Those are just really fun for me - you still could pan just a little more slowly but you are doing better!
Men do indeed meddle. Just finished watching “What Really Happened: America’s Wild West S1 Ep6 The violent close of the ‘frontier’ chapter of U.S. history.” You’ve noted that the victors write the history. The U.S. Govt made a tragic history with its “manifest destiny” purge, perhaps as deadly as any final solution. Sorry. I’m feeling disappointed in man’s meddling and his inability to act on his “sacred”ideals.
Neat video, Joel, but where were all the people? Early morning?

Love the short videos Joel. Thank you. Fun to see small town America!
Glad you like ‘em, good sir!

Joel, go find the book "Master of the Mississippi "and find the real history of the clearing of the Red River raft. Incredible American history.
Is that it!
Had to hit the road… more to come!

I used to live there and my ex still does. We had an old 1840’s farm house on pier and beam style foundation. She still has the house and property.
Look no further for the folly of man, than history.
"The Dude abides"
Those gunslinging barflies you met in Jefferson TX are emblematic of our species.
After years of confrontational slurs and abusive conduct, Trump finally agitated someone to use force to quell his screeds.
And predictably the gunslingers talk mayhem had the provocateur they revere been taken out

Oh! If the truth was to be revealed. Would We be able to deal with it?
