The city is full of these historic cafes. We just stumbled into another, which I’ll post in an upcoming Modern Flâneur, after attending a show down in the theater district this past weekend. Spectacular!
beautiful - que lugar! I'm planning my first trip to B.A. and looking for cafe recommendations. Keep 'em coming. Looks like one of the best café cities.
Your description of these bares notables makes me wonder if the title and lyrics of a song from one of my favorite bands is about one of these. Are you familiar with the group Churupaca and their song "Café Goyheneche"?
On Substack I can click on the headline and listen to the audio. I generally read the text while I listen. Lately, I cannot get audio on the post cards... Any help appreciated.
Now that's what I call a classy cafe! The rise of the community cafe in the UK is a result of the deep seated need for connection. Even the somewhat reserved Brits are embracing the idea of a shared space for sitting and sipping!
Hola! como Argentino del interior del país (del interior de la provincia de Córdoba) te digo que me encantan estos videos de Buenos Aires (solamente he ido una vez por motivos de salud de uno de mis hijos) así que no recorrí prácticamente nada. Muchas gracias!
Makes me almost miss civilization. Well, it was nice while it lasted.
I agree with Rich! Your video clips are such teasers.
You are making me want to relocate! :-)

Glad to hear you’re inbound. So much to see. I’ll keep these video posts coming every weekend. Thanks for reading!
Looked like a scene out of a 1930's movie in color.
My feeling exactly!

Buena la suerte te trajo hasta mí otra vez
Café Goyeneche como la primera vez
Abrí la puerta y estabas ahí, me asusté
Abrí la puerta y te juro que me asusté
Hadn’t heard of them before… thanks for the recommendation!

Interesting…perhaps the audio feature doesn’t work on video posts? I’ll look into it. Thanks for mentioning!
That is a very stylish cafe. One day I will visit. Gracias por el recorrido
Gracias por venir

Agreed. We need more of these communal spaces… cafes, salons, bars, etc. Especially after the isolationism during covid…
So great to see how deeply you have immersed yourself in Portenio culture
