Another priceless O'Rourke quote to lead off a pithy assessment of the massive cesspool, (to call it an iceberg or swamp is too kind), being unearthed by the new administration.

Speaking of fraud, here in Minnesota our Governor Walz (failed VP candidate) administration departments have tallied up approximately $610 million in fraud with no accountability/oversight and no national coverage at all. Imagine what he could have done in the DC swamps.

Did anyone imagine the rot was this deep and pervasive? I feel equidistant from being gobsmacked, nauseous and enlightened.

This is nothing. The dems are in the streets to save the real graft from being exposed. The DoD has trillions to answer for

Yes, and that 2.3 trillion that was unaccounted for when the Pentagon got hit by something other than an airplane on 9/11 is still missing. It's probably WAY more than 2.3 trillion now too!

Now THAT is a big feeding trough that makes USAID pale in comparison!

It's much worse. Stay tuned.

Good frog, bad scorpion: copping a ride from, or to, the berg, means you’ll never get over, means you’ll only get down - all the way down to the bottom.

A reason the ocean is so vast & deep is that there are sooooo many scorpionized frogs.

Hoping you might turn your attention at some stage to the cesspit that lies at the heart of the 'sainted' EU. We should see a fair few rats running for the gang planks when they are uncovered.

Oh but you did! Remember when Obummer said "you didn't build that, the government did"?

The BBC, meanwhile, defended its take by explaining that, although BBC Media Action, an “international organization that supports and trains local journalists and outlets around the world,” received funds from USAID, totaling a non-trivial 8% of the charity’s entire income in 2023-24, the charity is “completely separate from BBC News,” and “does not produce news itself.” How convieniant ! Its like the guy beside you, who is pissing on your boots and then tells you its raining. Although, not nearly as severe.

I like a lot of what Trump is doing, but I wonder if all of you supported Bush and his actions after 911? I recall that did not turn out too well. This time will be no different. History may not repeat, but it does rhyme a lot (according to Mark Twain).

Expand full comment

Don’t see how you can compare the 2 at all.

Expand full comment

It's not a one to one comparison, but I will note in passing that popular opinion was that Bush did some things "right" - at least at the time.

Agreed, but like Trump 45 he was surrounded by a den of vipers. This time President Trump is going in with eyes wide open and surrounded by actual supporters. He is a lame duck and I don’t think he cares what democrats think anymore. His cabinet has all suffered from the deep state and going balls to the wall to change things and uproot the swamp. I like that he is doing it with so much transparency! I wish him luck but wish Elon would slow down just a tad and make sure his cuts don’t sacrifice national security.

So...this time it's different? I hope you're right. We'll see. Wait, did you say Bush was surrounded by a den of vipers? He was the viper, and a dumb one, too. But all are playing their part, even Biden and Kamala, and leading us where satan want's us to go. I read the Book, I know where this is ultimately headed.

No I said Trump 45 was surrounded by a den of vipers. That was his first term when he did not know who to trust

The mis-spent money in USAID, and in other Federal agencies for that matter, could be stopped from disbursement without the chaos Trump is employing.

It happens all the time in every organization, public, private even families

What’s unique now is Trump is violating the Constitution to reshape the Executive Branch

But most if not all his changes require prior approval of the Legislative Branch

If he gets away with with what he — not the citizens want — do we have a Constitutional government or the beginning of a monarchy?

Expand full comment

Violating the constitution? Where in the constitution does it say anything about education? I could go on and on and on. Specifically, however, the constitution says that any monies going to a foreign entity have to be approved through the senate by treaty.

...👎

Expand full comment

👎If it's not in the Constitution, then it is void, has no Constitutional validity, and isn't worth the paper it's written on. I.e., over 80% of the Federal Agencies and Departments that exist unconstitutionally & their funding may be stricken based on the lack of validity therein!

Edited 02/10/25: Within the Constitutional "only" spending authorization, see Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17! This Treasonable, fraudulent spending has been going on for far too long, making numerous politicians, officials & George Soros even wealthier!

Anything

not enumerated in the constitution is left to the states. Now, the state's grovel for money that they have sent to the federal government. They have abdicated their responsibilities as well. For those who don't understand, Federal means a government controled by its various constituents. The states need to regain their constituent authority.

Wrong on both counts

Here’s a simple way to keep it straight

1. If its creation was approved by Congress, then it’s eradication must also be approved by Congress

2. Payments from our country to others occur every second of every day. Treaty not required

Yes, CONgress could, and should, have done it, but they would have taken an eternity to do so. The US president is weaker (i.e., can do far less on his own), than leaders and presidents of other nations. That's why executive orders only apply to government employees, or those who receive government funding. But, look at the bright side, Trump only has 4 years to act like an "Emperor."

Expand full comment

TRUMP violating the Constitution, where have you been for the last four years? If it takes “violating the Constitution “, which is debatable, to root out such hideous corruption in government, so be it. GO TRUMP GO! AMEN ELON, GET OUT THE CHAINSAW, GO GO GO!

Expand full comment

If he has to be dictator for a few days and push the boundaries while exposing the graft and corruption of the legislators then how hard can they push back and for how long and at what cost?

This is an envelope that needed to be pushed and if challenges eventually pull him back we will no longer be burdened by what has been. Congress will be so embarrassed they will have to concede some serious changes.

Well this is sure what this citizen wants!!! Also he can reduce the size I believe without doing away with the organization. Like make the 10,000 people only 100 ? also stopping the spending even if funds have been appropriated. You can put the non spent funds back into the treasury.
